I loved your post, it is so true and slightly scary! I never fully realized how crazy Bella Swan is! It is a bit sad that so many young girls are reading this saga and believing that Bella and Edwards relationship, or Bella and Jacobs relationship is an ideal. I agree with everything you have said in your post but esspecially liked the point about Bella lacking a personailty or sense of self. All the Twilight Fans seem to have a huge division about either 'Team Edward' or 'Team Jacob.' Why isn't there 'Team Bella'? Why does Bella, who is serving as the 'modern' ideal teenager, always have to be paired with -and defined by- a male figure? I really liked this piece of work! Thank you for sharing! xx

Hi Ashley! Thanks for your comment. You raise some interesting questions. After I wrote the post, someone pointed out to me some interesting tidbits about Mormonism, including the value placed on "obedience" and submissiveness as well as the fervent belief in the afterlife (and how great it's supposed to be). I wonder how much Ms. Meyer's Mormon beliefs informed the plot and the nature of her characters. As for imprinting, I have no idea what the Mormon beliefs are about such things, but it's a heck of a set-up for arranged marriage! It doesn't seem like the werewolves or their partners have any say in the matter, though who knows? Renesme's a bit of a wild card. She may have her own ideas... (Personally, though, I hope the fourth book is the LAST book. I don't think I can take any more!)

I love this. It is so true. I also totally agree with you that the 4th book just went way too far. A friend told me it was because Stephanie Meyer is Mormon.
What about the whole imprinting thing? Maybe that is Mormon Fundamentalism? Does that child (Renesme) have a choice as to weather or not she will marry Jacob when she is old enough?

(I have not problem with Mormonism. This is just curiosity.)
